The Choice That Changed Everything
What if I told you that a decision made thousands of years ago forever altered the course of humanity’s relationship with God? Before this decision, this “fork in the road” moment, the world was perfect. There was no pain, no sadness, no natural disasters, no thorns, nor predators. But when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, they set humanity on a path filled with struggle, hardship, and most significantly, spiritual death. Please, read on for more information.
The Fall of Mankind
If you aren’t familiar with the Holy Bible, the verses below are the historical events that reshaped the relationship between mankind and God. Satan, who took the form of a serpent, lied to and tempted Eve. Satan contradicted God by telling Eve that she would not die if she ate from the forbidden tree. Trusting the serpent, Eve disobeyed God and ate the fruit, sharing it with Adam. Suddenly, they became aware of their nakedness. Their nakedness was symbolic of their separation from God. Here are God’s word about what transpired:
“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree, which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”
Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
So, when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked” – Holy Bible, Genesis 3:1-7
This moment didn’t just affect Adam and Eve. It affects us all. They chose the wrong path, and the consequences have followed humanity ever since.
Spiritual Death
Being separated from God is synonymous with being “spiritually dead”. When Adam sinned, he introduced both spiritual and physical death into the world. All of mankind is spiritually dead unless God gives us a way out.
Below is a summary of what it means to be “spiritually dead” from Gotquestions.org:
Life’s Fork in the Road
In today’s world, many may not realize that they too are on a path leading to eternal separation from God. Each of us was born with an eternal soul, destined to live beyond our physical death. But because of sin, we are all spiritually dead by default. This default path leads to hell. But the good news is, there is another path!
The Path to Redemption
THERE IS GOOD NEWS! After Adam and Eve sinned, God provided a way for mankind to get off that ‘default’ path to hell. God carried out His plan to redeem mankind from their sin. God Himself paid the penalty for our sins (He redeemed us). All that we have to do to go to heaven is to have his faith in Jesus (God) and the redemption He carried out.
There are two paths – two possible courses of action:
- Believe in Jesus and the plan He carried out to redeem us. In this course of action God Himself (Jesus) took the penalty for your sin and paid for it. This means that you do not have to pay for your own sins in hell. This is the ONLY way that you can avoid hell. You cannot be a good enough person to avoid hell. There is no balance beam scale where you can claim that you were mostly good because every single sin must be paid for. If you want to be with God for eternity this is the only way.
- Don’t believe in Jesus and the plan He carried out to redeem us. In this course of action, you will pay for your own sins in hell for eternity. By not believing in Jesus, you are in essence calling God a liar – you are saying “I don’t believe that the plan you carried out was necessary. I don’t believe the sacrifice of Jesus was needed to prevent me from going to hell.” That dishonors God. Not believing in Jesus and the plan of redemption He carried out will ensure you are eternally separated from God for eternity.
A Personal Plea
Please don’t dismiss this message. My desire for this website is not personal gain but to share the truth of God’s Word so that others may be saved. There is no decision more important in life than asking God to save you. Read the Bible, starting with the Book of John, and pray to God for understanding. You are at a fork in the road—choose the path that leads to eternal life. There is nothing that you will do in your life more important than praying to God and asking Him to save you from hell. And you can also read the Bible to help you understand God – the book of John within the Holy Bible is a good place to start.
The correct path is not the one you see most people on.
